This documentation is for Agathon customers with a legacy shared hosting account.
Note: Use your entire email address as your username. If you are already comfortable with your email program, use the Quick Start settings below to get going quickly. A more complete explanation with screenshots is also provided.
username: (your full email address, e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org)
POP (incoming) mail server: mail.agathongroup.com
POP server port: 995 (IMAP server port: 993)
Enable SSL for POP
SMTP (outgoing) mail server: mail.agathongroup.com
SMTP server port 25 (contact us if port 25 is blocked by your ISP)
Enable SSL/TLS encryption for SMTP
Enable SMTP authentication (not "Secure Password Authentication")
If you use Apple's Mail.app: Preferences → Accounts → Advanced, set IMAP Path Prefix to "INBOX" (without the quotes)
Email Setup and Screenshots
Although these screenshots are from Microsoft Outlook, other email software should be similar. Click any screenshot image to see it fullsize.
From the top menus, select Tools → Email accounts. The first window will look like this:
Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next to continue.
Select POP3 and click Next to continue.
Under the User Information section of the Internet Email Account Settings window, enter your name and email address. For the Server Information section, use mail.agathongroup.com for both incoming and outgoing mail servers. Under the Logon Information section use your full email address for the User Name.
Click More Settings to continue.
Select the Outgoing Server tab, and click both My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use same setting as my incoming mail server.
Select the Advanced tab to continue.
Under the Advanced tab, check the boxes for both POP3 and SMTP, This server requires a secure connection (SSL). Select OK to return to the setting window and then click Next to complete your account setup.
