Your site speed can be affected by a number of things, including your connection, plugins, and even your theme. Here are a few things you can look at to narrow down why your site speed is slower than normal.
Run a site speed test
Go to www.webpagetest.org and load the URL you would like to test. This report will show you how many requests your browser has to load before your page loads. The more requests, the longer it takes.
Review your plugins
We recommend updating your plugins, regularly, and deleting plugins you no longer use. Outdated plugins can cause page load and security issues, even if they aren't in active use! To get a performance report for you plugins, you can install P3 Plugin Profiler. This shows how plugins are running your site. More often than not, the plugins that cause site speed issues are outdated and used infrequently. You can delete these and test your site speed.
See what your users are seeing
If you are logged into your website as an admin, log out and reload. This can give you an idea of how fast your page loads for your users, which is usually much faster than what you see as an admin! Another way to see how fast your site loads for your users, is to load your website in an incognito, or private browsing window. When you are logged in, your browser bypasses any cached information and loads all of your website.
